Technologies + project structures

Energy infrastructure, structured around the commercial case.

Technology selection is only one part of project viability. 80° West evaluates each opportunity through the combined lens of economics, credit, incentives, contracts, execution, capital, and ownership.

Technologies

Solar PV

Commercial-scale photovoltaic projects structured around site conditions, customer credit, incentives, ownership, and long-term economics.

What determines viability
Offtake and customer credit, site and roof or land control, interconnection capacity and cost, incentive eligibility and timing, and the ownership structure that makes the economics work.
Single-line drawing of a commercial solar installation: two ground-mount photovoltaic arrays feeding a DC collection run, an inverter, a step-up transformer, switchgear, and a metered connection to the transmission network.

Battery Energy Storage

Storage projects designed around use case, tariff value, resilience, market participation, incentives, and capital structure.

What determines viability
The dispatch use case and the tariff or market that pays for it, demand-charge and resilience value, augmentation and degradation assumptions, controls and interconnection, and whether the revenue stack is contractible enough to finance.
Single-line drawing of a battery energy storage installation: two racked battery enclosures with roof-mounted thermal management, a DC bus to a power conversion system, a step-up transformer, switchgear, and a metered connection to the transmission network.

Energy Efficiency

Efficiency projects that convert measurable operating improvements into financeable, executable commercial programs.

What determines viability
Measurable savings and the baseline they are measured against, implementation scope and disruption, measurement and verification where relevant, customer economics, contractability, and whether the scope repeats across a portfolio.

Water Efficiency

Water-efficiency projects structured around resource savings, operating economics, project scope, and available ownership or financing pathways.

What determines viability
Measurable resource and operating-cost reduction, the rate structure that values it, scope and implementation path, measurement and verification where relevant, and whether the savings support a financeable term.

Integrated Projects

Solar, storage, energy efficiency, and water efficiency may be combined when the integrated commercial case is stronger than a standalone measure — because the combined savings support a better structure, because one measure makes another financeable, or because a single execution package is easier for the customer to approve.

Project structures

Match the structure to the project.

80° West evaluates capital and ownership pathways based on project economics, customer requirements, credit, risk allocation, timing, and the desired long-term asset strategy.

01

Third-party equity and project debt

For projects supported by external capital where ownership and financing are structured at the project or portfolio level.

02

Joint ventures

For opportunities where a developer, asset owner, strategic partner, or capital provider contributes complementary capabilities or capital.

03

Customer purchase

For projects developed and sold directly to the customer, including cash purchase structures where appropriate.

04

Customer purchase with arranged financing

For customer-owned projects where 80° West coordinates or structures a financing pathway with third-party capital providers.

05

Project sale / monetization

For projects monetized before completion, at completion, or after reaching defined development or operating milestones.

06

Long-term ownership

For selected projects retained through a project entity for ongoing ownership and operation.

The availability and suitability of any structure depends on project diligence, economics, customer credit, market conditions, approvals, and definitive documentation. Nothing on this page is an offer to sell or a solicitation of an offer to buy any security, or a commitment to provide financing.
